JOHANNESBURG - The South African branch of the MDC-T has suspended its organising secretary for alleged financial mismanagement.
A letter in the hands of The Zimbabwean written by the Vice Secretary Vickson Mundia, Rodgers Mudarikwa is accused of dereliction of duty. He is also accused of dishonesty, misappropriation of party funds and bringing the name of the party into disrepute.
In a letter dated 18 January 2011 Rodgers is not allowed to be on the premises of the party, and must hand over all his contacts and the programmes he was engaged in.
Chairperson Austin Moyo confirmed the suspension, but refused to divulge the reason and how much the party was prejudiced.
I can confirm that Rodgers is on suspension but cannot tell you the reasons. He will be investigated and if there is need for a disciplinary hearing he will be subjected to that, said Moyo.
This month MDC-T Johannesburg district suspended the youth chairperson Giyani Dube. The partys spokesperson, Bongani Mathe, says Giyane appeared before the disciplinary hearing and was absolved of any wrong doing. Upon being asked if indiscipline was creeping into MDC-T in South Africa, Moyo said MDC-T is a party of excellence with the constitution which every member has to follow. If anyone diverts from that we wont fear to bring that person to line.
