Mutasa congratulates Welshman Ncube

welshman_ncube_2HARARE - The Minister in the President's Office, Didymus Mutasa, has jokingly congratulated the new President of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-M), Professor Welshman Ncube (Pictured) , saying his party should now change its name to MDC-N.

Mutasa said : “I would like, on behalf of Zanu (PF) to congratulate the new leader of the MDC-M which is now known as the MDC-N, Professor Welshman Ncube. He is a great guy and we at Zanu (PF) wish him well in everything he does. We will work with him.”

Mutasa was addressing invited guests at the launch of the Commodity Exchange in Zimbabwe (Comez) held in Harare. He was representing the Acting President, John Nkomo, who failed to attend the event. Ncube simply smiled but acknowledged the congratulations from Mutasa while seated at the high table as the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

This is the first time that a Zanu (PF) senior official has congratulated the new President of the MDC-M and the first time that the party has heard the name being changed to MDC-N. Former leader, Arthur Mutambara, who is Deputy Prime Minister, did not attend the event and has not commented publicly on the name change.

He has, however, simply scoffed at the idea of the “alphabetical change” from “M” to “N” of his party. Ncube has already said he is now in charged at the MDC-M and will go for the post of Deputy Prime Minister now that he has toppled Mutambara at the helm.
