Player exodus hits Dynamos, Motor Action

evans_gwekwerereHARARE- ZIMBABWE representatives in the African Champions League Dynamos and Motor Action have been hit by a massive player exodus with Evans Gwekwerere (pictured) being the latest player to leave Dynamos for bitter rivals CAPS United. Gwekwerere signed a two year contract with CAPS United on Monday.

Dynamos have already lost winger Benjamin Marere and shot stopper Washington Arubi who have joined Northern Region Division One side, Highfield United.

Highfield United are owned by diversified company, Twalumba Holdings, who last week shocked the football world by luring Peter Ndlovu out of retirement. Ndlovu was immediately loaned to Premier League club Black Mambas, who are also sponsored by Twalumba.

Motor Action, the 2010 Premier League champions, will rue their inability to secure the futures of star striker Bekimpilo Ncube and Charles Sibanda after the two players’ contracts ran out on December 31. The two players who were instrumental in the Mighty Bulls league campaign last term have not reported for training amid reports that they have lined up moves to newly promoted Mimosa outfit.

The Mighty Bulls were still trying to hold on to the players this week even as they snubbed pre-season training which started on Tuesday.

Mimosa, meanwhile, say the players have agreed to join them and now await clearance certificates from Motor Action.

Ncube and Sibanda say they – along with the rest of the Motor Action team – were not paid for the last month of the season, and did not receive bonuses for winning the Premier League title.

In the event they fail to get their clearances, the players can approach the Zifa Player Status Committee chaired by Central region chief Patrick Tichaona Hokonya.

Acting Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze said no player should be denied a clearance once his contract has expired.
