The initiative, set up by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, seeks to harness the very best research and intellectual work by Zimbabweans for national development.
“Zimbabwe wishes to collate and channel the knowledge and wisdom of its citizens to achieve its developmental goals. Furthermore, the multi-disciplinary nature development makes it imperative that this endeavour be all encompassing,” said a spokesman for the organisers.
He said the theme of the RIE would be Leadership in Research and Intellectual Excellence in Zimbabwe : Past, Present and Future. “It will be a national conference bringing together Zimbabweans at home and abroad from all disciplines to showcase and interrogate a wide range of issues, he added.
Papers to be presented cover themes such as innovation, creativity and development, culture and development, environment, food security, health, governance and leadership, education, social sciences the economy and global finance, humanities, and politics in Zimbabwe. More than 100 papers have already been received by the RIE Secretariat.
