The interviews were held at council chambers between two potential candidates for the position. Mbizi, who is the acting Chief Security Officer, failed dismally at the first selection test and was subsequently thrown out of the race.
Mbizi forced his way into the third stage and re-run of the interviews with the backing of Zanu (PF). He is the party provincial vice security officer. The remaining two candidates had passed the earlier stages without a clear winner. A Zanu (PF) provincial congress held at Kushinga Phikhelela College last November, resolved not to let go the council chief security officer post.
