The Vice President, speaking after the ruling, said there was a deliberate attempt not to balance facts.
In his lawsuit, Moyo alleged that Nkomo defamed him by claiming that he had plotted a smart coup to depose President Robert Mugabe at a secret meeting held in Dinyane, Tsholotsho in 2004.
The alleged meeting, infamously known as the ‘Tsholotsho Declaration’, led to the sacking of at least seven Zanu (PF) regional heavyweights. Moyo initially filed a Z$2 billion lawsuit in 2005 against Nkomo and Zapu leader Dumiso Dabengwa who was with Zanu (PF) at the time. He later dropped charges against Dabengwa for making what he called false, wrongful, unlawful and highly defamatory statements.
The Vice President believes the decision taken by Justice Bere was a politically motivated one.
I will find a way forward after I receive a copy of the judgment. This is a politically influenced decision, he said.
Sources within Zanu Pf said the decision passed by the Justice will have a bearing within the party as Mugabe calls for general elections this year.
