The Zimbabwean witnessed some grade one pupils in Harare (from Admiral Tait Primary school) being ordered by their teachers to draw the aging Presidents portrait and write 21st Movement, happy birthday to you below the portrait.
Infants who failed to do the assignment were delayed from their early breaking time.
The teachers said the directive came from the Ministry Education that every grade one child should do the assignment which was being sent back to the ministry before Friday this week.
We were just told that we should make them draw the portrait and submit the drawings to the ministry this week. They said its a running competition, answered one teacher who asked not to be named.
***The Zimbabwean failed to get an official comment from Education Arts Sports and Culture Minister David Coltart as he was unavailable at the time of going to print.
