“It’s all getting in shape,” said the winger (27). “I have now started training but am not rushing myself and am slowly getting there.”
Marere, who missed the African Nations Championships(CHAN) in Sudan due to the injury, is hoping to be considered for the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against Mali in Bamako next month.
The former Dynamos forward, now with Highfield United after dumping Dynamos, sustained the injury a month ago after he went into a tackle during the team’s training session. He eventually failed to make the final cut for the final 23 men Chan squad named by caretaker coach Madinda Ndlovu.
The former Mwana Africa winger said it would be disappointing for him to miss the cut again if he did not recover in time for the qualifiers.
“It was disappointing to miss the trip to Sudan because of this injury. However, I can now feel I am slowly recovering because I am feeling much better now.I was told by the doctor to start light training,” said Marere.
The Zimbabwe Warriors resume their campaign for a place at the biennial finals to be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon with an away tricky tie to Bamako.
