MDC Bindura North chairperson to appear in court over trumped charges

mdc_symbolIn Mashonaland Central province, Amos Tsvekese, the MDC Bindura North chairperson who was arrested after his house was razed to the ground on Monday was today remanded in custody on trumped up assault charges.

He had been earlier on granted a US$50 bail by a Bindura magistrate but the State invoked the draconian Section 121 sub section 3 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, which suspends a bail order from the courts.

His house was burnt on Monday by one Muzondo, a Zanu PF supporter at Selwood Farm. He made a report at Bindura Central Police Station but was later arrested on trumped up assault charges while Muzondo was not arrested.

Meanwhile, in Matabeleland North province, Bernard Nyamabi, the councillor for Ward 1 and MDC Hwange West Information and Publicity secretary was arrested today in Jembezi, Victoria Falls where he was carrying out a restructuring exercise. It is not known what charges he is facing.
