Strikers steal ABSA thunder

knowledge_musona3JOHANNESBURG The Zimbabwe national teams striking pair, Knowledge Musona (pictured) and Nyasha Mushekwi, continues to steal the thunder in South Africas ABSA Premiership.

With their sides leading the PSL league table, Musona and Mushekwi, already recipients of various awards, are involved in a tight race for the top goal-scorer award.

Former Black Aces Academy player, Musona, voted the Jet Rookie of the Year last season and also a favourite for the Telkom Knockout Player of the tournament, is leading the scoring charts with 11 goals, after converting a penalty in his sides 2-2

draw with Santos at Athlone stadium Sunday.

With his striking rate of at least a goal every match, it is Mushekwi, Zimbabwes 2009 Golden Boot winner, who looks set to repeat that feat on South African soil.

The Zimbabwe Warriors strikers have, however, some tight competition for the award. In Ajax Cape Towns Thembinkosi Fanteni (9), Bradley Grobbler of Platinum Stars and Lehlehonolo Majoro of Amazulu (both on eight) as well as Maritzburg

Uniteds Rudolf Bester and Thulani Serero of Ajax Cape Town, who are both sitting on six.
