MARONDERA - In 2010 Maxwell Zuzes world literally collapsed. He was beaten by suspected Zanu (PF) thugs for wearing an MDC T-shirt and now his dream of seeing his children through school seems impossible due to his lack of funds. Zuze suffered such serious injuries that the doctors put metal rods in his legs to enable him to walk again.
The pain in my leg is unbearable and I am seeking to have the rods removed. However, the doctors say they will have to remove the rods in August after the leg has completely healed. This delay will only mean that I will not be able to take care of my children.
Zuze has appealed for donations to enable him to sell vegetables and earn enough money to support his children. His wife passed away in 2006, but he was in full time employment and earning a decent enough salary to care for his family.
I used to live in Chitungwiza. When I was beaten I left an invalid and had to relocate to Marondera where I stay with my mother. She is old and she can only provide food for us. There is no school fees for my child who is supposed to be doing grade three and the other one who is supposed to have started grade one, said Zuze.
Zuzes is one of many who have been disadvantaged by the thuggery of the Zanu (PF) party.
