Youths rampage in Harare

zanu_youthHarare - Zanu (PF) youths disrupted businesses in the capital on Monday. Hordes of hired thugs were bussed in, mainly from the rural areas and Epworth, Calodonia and Hopley farms , and marched from the partys provincial offices in 4th street to Z anu (PF) headquarters along Jason Moyo Avenue via Gulf complex.

They were demanding an immediate takeover of foreign – owned companies while at the same time protesting against so-called sanctions. Singing revolutionary songs the huge crowd assembled at Zanu (PF) provincial headquarters at 4th street before embarking on the violent and unsanctioned demonstration march.

The youth s jumped from hired trucks and lorries and threatened to beat up any person oppos ing their ” anti-sanctions campaign “. The police watched while helpless street vendors were rob b ed of their wares by the violent and drunk youths. The group demanded that all foreign – owned companies be taken with immediate effect.

They also said they want all the foreigners occupying the Gulf business complex to vacate the premise and pave way for Zimbabweans. Gulf complex located in the city centre is a business centre dominated by foreigners mainly Nigerians. We want our people to get those shops now. We are tired of being enslaved and this must end today, they shouted while marching.

We want to see those who say they want sanctions to continue and we will deal with them accordingly. Just wait guys for the leadership to come and get father instructions. At the moment let all get inside the gate and continue singing while we wait for the leadership, ” an unidentified man was heard shouting to the crowd at their 4th street office just before the demonstration.

ZANU (PF) last year at its conference in Mutare resolved that all American and British owned companies be seized because their parent countries were refusing to lift sanctions against its senior party members. The part also said it wanted to mobilize at least six million people to sign an ” anti-sanctions petition “. The party has already forcing people to sign the petition in areas like Gokwe and Bulawayo.
