A report was made to the police who refused to open a docket saying they needed to investigate the issue first. Machikuni and his mother-in-law Manhumwa had their home was razed. Lost in the arson were two houses, clothes, party cards, birth certificates, 0 and A level certificates.
The Zanu PF terror thugs were led by Kumbulani Ndlovu, Kiri Wisilam, Simba Ngowani and Headman Machekecke. A report was made at Bvute Police Post, once used as a political torture base by Zanu PF, but the police officers led by one Katsaruware turned the request down. The MDC condemns such acts of violence perpetrated by the unpopular Zanu PF on a defenceless people.
Similar reports of violence have been reported in Nyanga North with the provincial spokesperson, Hon Pishayi Muchauraya saying hundreds of villagers from Nyakomba are fleeing into neighbouring Mozambique in fear of the violence being orchestrated by the unpopular Zanu PF.
Hon Muchauraya said three truck loads of terrorist militias stormed the village and started going house to house looking for MDC supporters. It is alleged that the trucks were supplied by Zanu PFs Hubert Nyanhongo who is trying to wrestle the Nyanga North constituency from Hon Douglas Mwonzora, the standing MP for the area.
Hon. Mwonzora is currently locked up at Mutare remand prison following allegations that he instigated violence in his constituency. He is being held together with 24 other MDC activists. When the 25 appeared before a Nyanga magistrate on Monday, they were freed on a US$50 bail each but the state invoked Section 121 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, which meant they could be held in custody for another seven days to give state prosecutors time to appeal against the bail. – The MDC Today – Issue 156
