Baleka Maposa (29), of Bambadzi Village under Chief Madlambuzi in Bulilima District was arrested at his homestead last week. Maposa and his accomplices broke into business premises such as TM Supermarket, last year October, and used explosives to open the safes. He was convicted on his own plea of guilt of attempted armed robbery and armed robbery and acquitted on two other offences of unlawful entry into premises and armed robbery.
The magistrate sentenced him to six years in prison for the first count and eight years for the third count. The other two were withdrawn before plea. Of the total 14 years, three years were suspended for five years on condition that he does not, within that period, commit any offence involving violence and dishonesty.
