A team of senior police officers including four superintendants, rushed to the house in disbelief that anyone could dare break into such a well protected home.
The intruder is believe to have gained entry to the house in Greystone Park and walked away with an LG Plasma 32-inch television set and two bottles of Nederburg wine on Tuesday evening.
He apparently managed to evade three members of the police special tactics troop who had been on duty on since Monday. The three support unit members were interviewed by police and said they were surprised the following morning to hear that there had been an intruder.
It was noticed that the intruder gained entry through the childrens lounge window by forcing it open and went out through the doors as some of the doors were seen open by the house keeper, who then called ZRP Borrowdale. A case of house theft was opened under case number Rrb 1118385 and Cr160/03/11.
A man believed to live nearby has been taken in for questioning by Borrowdale police.
