The Book Caf, Fife Ave Mall (Upstairs), Harare

On Thursday evening, 10 January, Harares Book Caf will hold a discussion on the Artists Voices Discussion forum entitled Music Freedom in Zimbabwe. The main purpose of the discussion is to explore and understand what Music Freedom is and its impact in Zimbabwe.

Furthermore the discussion will explore how the community of musicians has been affected by suppression of musical expression and its consequent impact to the musician, the music industry and the nation. There will also be arts journalists who will speak about the documentation of issues to do with music censorship and how the media helps musicians express themselves.

The speakers for the discussion will be Raymond Majongwe (Musician) and Maxwell Sibanda (Arts Journalist).

Music Freedom Day is an annual event to advocate freedom of expression for musicians worldwide, launched four years ago by Freemuse, an independent international organization working to defend freedom of expression for musicians and composers.

It takes place on 3rd March and celebrations include concerts, special radio programs, seminars, and workshops.

.

Everyone is invited to come, listen and air their views at The Book Caf.

Please forward any contributions you have for our discussion program and/or any suggestions for discussion topics, including other areas you feel have not been discussed/addressed. We value your support and contributions.
