MASVINGO Leading Zimbabwes mobile phone service provider, Econet, last Saturday donated 15 bins to the Masvingo City Council in an effort to keep the town clean. Handing over the bins to Masvingo City Council, Thandi Chibanda said Econet was forging partnerships with local authorities and residents associations.
At Econet we believe that environmental awareness is now a central issue to every modern business. The protection of the environment will remain at the centre of our entire decision making, said Chibanda.
Masvingo city was made the first beneficiary of the Econet Wireless policy of co-operation in environment awareness. She encouraged the residents of Masvingo to also help the city to maintain a clean environment.
The Deputy Mayor for Masvingo, Selina Maridza, encouraged the city health department to take good care of the bins.
This is a positive move by Econet Wireless and thank you for showing commitment to the cleaning of the city. The council is committed to keeping the city clean and this donation will make along way in achieving our goals of maintaining the environment, said Maridza.
The bins will be placed at the flea markets and public areas.
