Hon. Mangoma to remain in jail for a week as State bars his release

However, the State made a reversal after its request to bar Hon. Mangoma from reporting for work at his government offices was turned down by Justice Omerjee. Shocked by this judgment, the State then chose to invoke Section 121.

Hon. Mangomas lawyer, Selby Hwacha then asked the court to grant the ministers release on bail but Justice Omerjee said he could not do so as his hands were tide because of the actions of the State in invoking the draconian section, which bars the release of one on bail for seven days.

Hon. Mangoma is facing forged criminal charges of abusing public office by irregularly awarding a multi-million tender to purchase electricity meters by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of Zesa.
