Illegal roadblock for petition

zanupf_thugsHARARE - Zanu (PF) youth militia have mounted a 24-hour illegal roadblock at Wengezi Junction in Chimanimani where they are forcing motorists and passengers to sign the so called anti-sanction petitions.

According to motorists and commuter bus operators plying the Chimanimani/Mutare route, the youths started mounting the illegal roadblock on Friday last week following the launch of the anti- targeted sanctions by Zanu (PF).

“On Sunday afternoon I boarded a bus which was going to Mutare .When we arrived at Wengezi turn off, everyone in the bus was asked by the youths who were clad in Zanu (PF) party regalia to disembark from the bus and form a queue. While we were in the queue two of the youths distributed black counter books and asked everyone to sign the anti-sanction petition,” said Ronnie Saurombe, who works for a fast food outlet in South Africa.

Another commuter bus driver who refused to be named said the youths were camped by the roadside and supplied with food and beer everyday by Jane Knight, the Zanu (PF) Manicaland chairperson who is also aspiring to be the MP for the area.
