The jazz group is set to make two performances at the festival’s main event and at the jazz veterans’ concert in Highfield. Other top jazz musicians from Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe are expected to perform.
The Italian group comes to Harare courtesy of the Italian Embassy in Harare as part of the Embassy’s cultural programme to celebrate 150 years of Italian unification. According to the organisers of the event, the festival comprises of three events.
On Thursday 14 April, 2011, marking the official ceremony will be the Harare Jazz Festival Awards Ceremony to pay tribute to Zimbabwe’s jazz pioneers: the Cool Crooners, Lina Mataka and Dorothy Masuku.
The following day being the festivals main concert jazz artistes will outdo each other at Belgravia Sports Club where the Italian group is expected to dish out its famous 12 bar blues music that is a fusion of music styles, traditions and a genre that is deeply rooted in the New Orleans jazz.
The closing day will see the jazz groups performing a free show dubbed the Jazz Veterans’ Concert to be held in Highfield.
