The pieces are by some of the master stone sculptors of Zimbabwe and reflect the deep-held family values and culture of the people of this country. Its hoped the sculptures will provide visitors with a greater insight into the depth and wisdom of Zimbabwes culture.
The exhibition originates from the Chapungu Sculpture Park which was founded by Roy Guthrie in 1970 in an effort to promote art from the country across the world. It gets its name from the bateleur eagle known in Zimbabwe as a Chapunga a mythical, protecting bird considered a good omen.
All the pieces will be available to buy along with smaller works which visitors will find in the Gallery at Waterperry.

Waterperry Gardens near Oxford are to host a major new exhibition of sculpture from Zimbabwe. The artworks will be placed around the eight acre ornamental gardens at Waterperry with the event running from April 2011 for a year. (Garden entrance fee applies)
