MDC MPs jailed again – despite bail

douglas_mwonzora2Two MPs, Douglas Mwonzora (pictured) and Rodger Tazviona who were granted bail last week but remanded in custody after the State invoked Section 121 of sub section 3 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act were today further remanded in custody.

Hon. Mwonzora is Nyanga North MP and with other 25 MDC activists were arrested last week on political violence charges. Rodger Tazviona is the MP for Zhombe and with six MDC activists are facing charges of threatening Chief Samambwa.

Six MDC members, Rosemary Munetsi, councillor for Ward 27 Mutasa Central, Manicaland, Solomon Mutizawafa, Stanley Saruwaka, Tendai Fore, Lloyd Nyamutsika and Brian Nyabereka were today remanded by a Mutare magistrate. They are facing political violence charges and will appear in court tomorrow for bail ruling. All the charges are trumped up.

An MDC youth activist, Patrick Kamanga was abducted this morning by a group of Zanu PF thugs in Magamba area, Mbare. Kamanga was at work in the area when Zanu PF youths armed with an assortment of weapons pounced on him and started attacking before they abducted him and took him to secluded place in the area. His whereabouts remain unknown but his life is in danger. The police at Matapi Police Station were notified about the action but they refused to take action.

Meanwhile, self styled war veteran, Jabulani Sibanda has closed all schools in Ward, Gutu West, Masvingo and forced everyone including school children to attend his rally at Matizha Business Centre.
