Moyo planted mbanje in my car – Khumalo

gorden_moyoBULAWAYO - Mpopoma-Pelandaba MDC-T MP, Samuel Sandla Khumalo, says he has been a victim of a sting operation masterminded by minister of State Enterprises and Parastatals Gorden Moyo (pictured).

This resulted in him being charged with possession of 40,5 gm of marijuana in a magistrates court. Khumalo told The Zimbabwean in an exclusive interview that police, working in cahoots with Gorden Moyo, planted mbanje in his car and his house in a bid to scuttle his spirited bid to stop Moyo from becoming the provincial chairman.

Khumalo said the heightened fighting ahead of the MDC congress expected at the end of April had seen the re-emergence of “dirty tactics”.

He alleged that Moyo wanted the position so badly that he was bulldozing everyone in the way. MDC-T provincial chairmen are senior officials who sit in the national meetings with party President Morgan Tsvangirai.

Khumalo appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate last week charged with possession of illegal and dangerous drugs. He has been remanded out of custody until March 22, when he appears for trial.

Khumalo said Moyo’s unbridled ambition had caused serious acrimony in the MDC-T Bulawayo province.

Moyo rubbished Khumalo’s allegations, describing them as “tissues.” “I have no idea whether he is in court or what. I have no idea about that,” he said. “I cannot be commenting on congressional planning processes in the press. Khumalo is out on $50 bail and will appear in court on March 22.
