No MDC co-operation over Moyo

lovemore_moyo1HARARE - The Welshman Ncube led MDC will not co-operate with the main MDC led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai when voting for the replacement of the Speaker of Parliament, Lovemore Moyo (pictured), whose election was nullified under controversial circumstances by the Supreme Court last week.

Ncube told his supporters at a rally held at Stanley Square in Makokoba over the weekend that his party would rather side with Zanu (PF) than support MDC-T.

The MDC-T failed to support us when we wanted Arthur Mutambara to be removed from his Deputy Prime Ministers post. Now that their speaker has been disqualified, they should not accept any sympathy from our party. We would rather negotiate with Zanu (PF) than them (MDC-T), said Ncube, the partys president.

Ironically, most of the partys elected MPs, including the Deputy Speaker of parliament, Nomalanga Khumalo, snubbed the rally.

During the election which ushered in Moyo as speaker of parliament after the March 2008 elections, the partys MPs defied a party directive to vote for Paul Themba Nyathi and voted instead for Moyo.
