Police Intefere with ZCTU International Women’s Day Commemorations

zctu_logoDear Collegaues
As a follow-up to our earlier e-mail on the disruption of Women's Day commemorations, 16 women were picked up by the police in Bulawayo at the ZCTU offices.

They were briefly detained at the Bulawayo Central Police Station but were later released after the intervention of the ZCTU Paralegal Officer. These were arrested despite the police being furnished with a High Court order allowing the ZCTU to peacefully march to commemorate this day. Consequently the march was disrupted and activists resorted to marking the day at the ZCTU Bulawayo offices.

Kindest regards and thank you all for the solidarity.
