ZC boosts literacy

zimbabwe_cricket_logoHARARE - Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has pledged to boost literacy with the launch of its library and books donated by Book Aid International.

With the help of the books, sourced by the Harare Rotary Club, ZC officials said it was in line with International Cricket Councils (ICC) desire to transform the lives by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. One of our objectives is creating an all round player who is not only versed in playing on the field but has knowledge obtained from books he reads, ZC Head of Media and Communications, Shingai Rhuhwaya, said at the handover.

Last month, at the opening of the ongoing ICC World Cup, ICC in a partnership with Room to Read launched a global literacy campaign. Zimbabwe cricketer, Graeme Cremer, promoted this cause by sharing what he has gained from his favourite book Its Not About the Bike xxxxxx by Lance Armstrong.
