A Daiton and Josphat reunion?

josphat_somanjeHARARE - Sungura blood brothers, Daiton and Josphat Somanje (pictured), have collaborated in Daiton's latest release, Zvisinei Hazvo which was recorded and marketed at Last Power Media Studio.

Although the project is Daiton’s, the Pengaudzoke co-founders seem to have finally buried their hatchet with Josphat coming in with his trademark vocals and lead guitar playing skills.

The brothers, for the past decade, have been travelling on parallel lines following an acrimony that destroyed the band, Pengaudzoke, a once refined outfit that took the sungura music scene by storm.

During the spiteful separation Josphat formed Somanje Stars, while Daiton remained with Pengaudzoke, but fans favoured Josphat, who became more popular in the music arena.

This latest album is full of promise, featuring vocals from Sherry, Moto Wabvira and Nankoswe.

The other tracks on the album are Nyarugo, Musango and Samudhudhu.

“It is a good gesture. It brings back the fond memories when we were together as Pengaudzoke. I will cherish it for a long time,” said Daiton.

However, the brothers said they would continue to run their bands separately.

Daiton’s repertoire manager, Tichaona Makahamadze, was upbeat about the new album.

“The response from the fans is more than overwhelming. A lot of people actually waited for this for quite a long time. I believe this will be a success.”
