Grace not in sight at spy’s burial

grace_mugabeHARARE - First Grace Mugabe (pictured) was no way in sight at the burial of spy chief Menard Muzariri who was interred at the National Heroes Acre on Thursday fuelling speculation that she is not feeling well.

Despite Mugabe delivering a speech at the shrine his wife who usually accompanies him was not in sight.

The absence of Grace has fuelled public interest and is at most intriguing for the people who have thus far been kept in the dark as to the health of the shopaholic first lady who was rushed to hospital last Friday to Singapore where her husband also gets his medical check-ups.

When on Tuesday her husband Robert visited the Muzariri family in posh Borrowadale suburb Grace was not on his side and her absence at the shrine on Thursday has led people to conclude that she was hospitalised.

George Charamba President Robert Mugabe’s spokesperson could not be reached for commend but is apparently in the dark on the matter as Grace was rushed to hospital without even his notification.

The lives of the first family are closely guided secret despite the fact that the public pays for the medical trips to Singapore and the government loses millions of dollars in the process.

At the shrine that is now the preserve of Zanu PF loyalists Mugabe walked spritely for his age and showed no signs of tiring when he delivered an hour long speech connoted with the usual verbiage against the west.

His sharpness dispelled any speculation that the trip to Singapore was for his health which at his age is understandable. Mugabe is 87 and his wife is 46.

According to Charamba, Grace has had a hip problem since giving birth to Chatunga 14 years ago.

It howver, remains to be seen whether it is the hip that has sidelined the flamboyant first lady from Zanu PF and National events.

And tomorrow during the independence day is another stage for Grace to avail self.
