IRC donations

MUTARE In its bid to improve health delivery in various communities, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) last Wednesday donated an ambulance and other medical equipment to health service providers in Manicaland.

Under the Emergency Maternal and Neonatal Care Programme, Sakubva District Hospital received an ambulance, while rural health centres, including Marange Rural Hospital and St Andrews Mission Hospital, received HF radios, stethoscopes, fetoscopes, autoclave machines, sterilising pots and solar cell phone chargers.

Commenting about the donation, the IRC Zimbabwe Director Mustafa Elkanzi said: This package of assistance should be seen in the light of the campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa under the theme: No woman should die while giving life.

Elkanzi added that the IRC started work in Zimbabwe in 2008 and was working in areas of poverty, disease control, enhancing community resilience and building the capacity of social institutions through a wide range of socio-economic development programme.
