Judge reserves ruling

BULAWAYO - A high court judge here, Justice Nicholas Ndou, has reserved judgement in a matter where a former bodyguard of the late MDC Vice president, Gibson Sibanda, is suing the party for more than US$9 000.

The MDC-N approached the high court seeking an order to stay execution of its vehicles which were attached by the Deputy Sheriff early this month to offset Nyoni’s debt. The complainant obtained a High Court order compelling the smaller faction

of the MDC to execute an award of US$9 416, 25 granted by the arbitrator in the dispute.

After the refusal by the party to comply with the High Court order, Nyoni managed to get a writ of execution which led to the attachment and removal of the MDC vehicles by the Bulawayo Deputy Sheriff. Ironically the party has filed an urgent application before the same judge seeking stay of execution.

The bodyguard, who doubled up as a security guard at the party’s Bulawayo offices is alleging that he was unfairly dismissed from work. Justice Ndou is expected to deliver his ruling this week.
