Zanu (PF) sources in the constituency said Mahoso, who was born in Chikwakwa area under chief Muusha, has been shuttling between Harare and Chimanimani to try and wrestle the seat from Lynette Karenyi, the incumbent MDC-T legislator. Mahoso has also been spotted lately attending church gatherings and attending schools prize giving day functions in the constituency.
Mahoso has expressed his intention to run as a Zanu (PF) candidate in the forthcoming elections. Of late he has been making numerous visits in the constituency. The problem with his candidature is that, although he comes from the area, he has been way for too long and the party will have serious problems in marketing him to the electorate, said a senior party official in Chimanimani, who refused to be named for fear of victimisation.
The source said there were a number of people vying for a ticket to represent Zanu (PF) in the constituency. Among them are perennial Zanu (PF) loser, Munacho Mutezo and Major Charles Muresherwa, who has been implicated in a series of political violence in the area.
