When completed, the centre will measure 1000 square meters. Group Music Arranger Chakandika confirmed the development and said the centre was expected to be officially opened later this month.
We are still in the process of consulting the Government because we want the centre to be a traditional venue for all cultural activities, he said.
Two gazebos have already been established and guest houses in which traditional cultural dishes will be served are near completion. Chakandika also said that the centre would serve as a base for teaching locals about the countrys rich cultural history.
Lessons on making mbira instruments which can be connected to electricity gadgets will also be conducted, Chakandika said.
Mbira Dzenharira first album entitled Rinemanyanga is still fresh in the minds of many Mbira music lovers both from local and international circles. The group has also recorded hit albums like Gomo Remandiriri and Tadya Pfora which were released in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
