Dhewa has been reluctant to renew his contract with his long-term record company Gramma records, after it expired on November 19, 2010.
The Utakataka frontman’s lackadaisical attitude in rekindling his anniversary celebrations with Gramma has prompted several recording companies – inlcuding Last Power and Diamond Studios – to compete in courting the sungura heavyweight.
Though Dehwa attributed his failure to renew his contract to several pressing issues, his close lieutenants said their boss was no longer willing to play spouse to Gramma Records.
I do not think Igwe (Dhewa) will return to Gramma. He has been approached with several other recording companies and it is likely that he will soon switch to greener pastures, said one of his band members.
