This follows yet another new album release by an upcoming sungura musician in the form of Obvious Mutani releasing his fourth album entitled Loaded Weapon.
One could make the mistake that it was done by the sungura music king Macheso as the voice projections and the distinctive bass guitar riffs are reminiscent of that particular sungura music ace.
Strongly led by The Sungano Express, Mutani this week said he was hopeful that his latest album would be able to make it in the sungura music domain, which is characterised by fierce competition.
I am very confident that the album will make it as we have taken our time in preparing for it, he said confidently in an interview with Showbiz.
He said fans can look forward to songs like Tsano Havadye Derere literally translated in an African tradition it means In-laws do not eat poor foods like Okra.
That song depicts the usual marital fabric that says in-laws should always be given preferential treatment. I have noted that the in-laws whenever they visit their daughter’s or sister’s homes they will be expecting to be treated with kid gloves and are fond of having preferential treatment, explained the talented vocalist and guitarist.
Mutani added that another song to look forward to was Amanda, a love song which tackles the theme of marital relationships.
I was putting emphasis on the kind of woman who has all the qualities of a good wife. I was just asking men how many of them would stick to such a woman despite having heavy criticism from the relatives who will be despising her, explained the musician.
Mutani however, lamented that he had faced numerous challenges in sourcing his own musical equipment.
I do not have instruments for rehearsals. I would want to have rehearsals on a daily basis with my group. Another problem that I am facing is that of accommodation for my band members. We would also want to be close to each other so that rehearsals are done frequently, Mutani said. He did, however, pay tribute to fellow musician Brian Mteki for the assistance he has been giving him.
