MKOBA MDC-T powerbroker Amos Chibaya has started building the first community library in this Gweru suburb.
Chibaya, who is the MP for the area and was readmitted into the MDC-T National Executive Council recently, said: Its going to be a very big library indeed and it has to be so considering the fact that it will be the first of its kind in Mkoba. The cost of building the library is about $65 000.
I will use the $50 000 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from treasury for the project and the remainder will have to come from well wishers, he said. When completed, the library will go a long way in boosting the education systems in the city. It will also open up a new avenue of study for students in the suburb, many of whom cannot meet costs of getting into town to study at centres there. To date, Gweru has only one reputable Library, the Gweru Memorial Library, founded in 1898 and located in 8th Street.
