Industrial Index up slightly

zimbabwe_stock_exchange2HARARE - Meanwhile the Industrial Index on the ZSE gained 0.02 points to close at 160.61 points for the week under review. This was a 0,01 percent change for the period.

Gains were recorded in Pretoria Portland Cement, which added $0,11 to close at $3,26, SeedCo Limited, which recovered $0,05 to trade at $1,35 and Barclays Bank, which rose $0,03 to close at $0,06. The Mining Index gained 0.45 points to close at 185.95 points – a 0,24 percentage change for the week under review. Bindura Nickle Corporation was bid higher at $0,08 while Falcon Gold Hwange Colliery Company and Rio Zimbabwe were mainly unchanged.

Rio is extremely unhappy about the negative coverage that it is receiving from the local and international media recently.

Sources said the Rio share price had nose-dived last week when the negative reports about its cash flow problems and huge borrowing from banks emerged. “Let sleeping dogs lie,” a Rio Zim official said in an interview when asked about the cash flow problems at the mining giant. Rio Zim has a market capitalisation of $43 474 166.80 on the ZSE. Its share price currently stands at $1,40.
