Speaking to The Zimbabwean this week provincial chairperson Jabulani Mkwanazi confirmed infighting and suspension of his deputy provincial chairperson Isaac Mzimba, Head of Security Lizwe Gwebu and Youth Khawulani Mlawuzi.
We have suspended them for sitting in an unsanctioned meeting. There are party protocols and as senior party members we expect them to lead by example. They are damaging the partys image and we wont allow anyone to go unpunished for disrespecting party protocols. Mzimba has been not attending party meetings for more than seven months. How do we work with such a member? he questioned.
But, Mzimba believes Mkwanazi is a tribalist and dictator out to impose his desired candidate Bowen Ndlovu.
Mkwanazi is power hungry. He knows his term in office is expiring and he has no option but to stand down. He told me that this province belongs to the Ndebeles only and he even threatened to shoot me, he said.
Mzimba went on to lambast Mkwanazi as a Zanu (PF) agent.
An angry Gwebu said they were being labelled Mutambara spies.
People are being unfairly suspended for saying no to permanent leaders, for saying no to tribalism, no to corruption. We have been unfairly fired for supporting Mzimba who comes from Midlands as chair of SA province; they are saying we are being used by Mutambara.
Provincial spokesperson Ngqabutho Dube refused to comment and referred everything to his chairperson Mkwanazi. Since Welshmen Ncube came to the helm his party has been rocked by squabbles and factionalism.
