He was buried at the Magutsa family cemetery on Friday. Families of the suspects who allegedly killed Magutsa were barred from attending the funeral. We are shocked beyond description by the savage murder of Magutsa. More so as it came at the hands of neighbours who knew him well. Surely, how could people beat to death a fellow villager whom they had put in handcuffs? We are shocked as we thought it was the responsibility of courts of law to put on trial suspects. As MDC we knew Magutsa as a peace loving man hence our hearty condolences, said Machekanyanga.
The arrested suspects who allegedly committed the murder were expected to appear in court this week. They included two traditional leaders and Zanu (PF) members, Headman Node Mupazviriwo who is also a member of police neighbourhood watch, Headman John Mupazviriwo, Timothy Chirere Mupazviriwo (Zanu (PF) youth development officer and Border Gezi Youth training graduate), Mrs Kembo Mupazviriwo (Wife to Headman Major Mupazviriwo), Challer Mupazviriwo and Tatenda Mupazviriwo (a Zanu (PF) youth).
Meanwhile, eye witnesses gave shocking accounts about how Magutsa met his death. They said the Boarder Gezi graduate, Timothy, refused to be restrained by other villagers from beating Magutsa to death, as he said it was time for him to showcase skills he learnt at Zanu (PF) Boarder Gezi training.
Villagers were also reportedly shocked to witness a woman member of the police neighbourhood watch, Kembo, crushing Magutsas genitals with a hard object. The gruesome murder left villagers in a state of shock and anger. They have called on government to withdraw the so called Zanu (PF) and government youth development officers from their midst as they were among perpetrators of violence among communities.
