The Mighty Warriors levelled the score 1-all in the second half after the hosts took the lead through a penalty converted by Maria do Destino in the 19th minute.
But Rudo Neshambas strike in the 70th minute kept the Zimbabweans hope of qualifying for the continental games alive.
The All Africa Games are set for Maputo, Mozambique, in September.
Despite the Angolan coachs praise for the Mighty Warriors display, the Zimbabwean teams head coach, Rose Mugadza, believes her troops could have done better.
The result was impressive but I still feel they could have done better if they played according to game plan. All we need to do now is work hard to display a great show at home and secure a place at the All Africa Games,” said Mugadza.
