State of the art equipment for Kariba local authority

KARIBA - The struggling Kariba Municipality, still recovering from the aftermath of a huge cholera outbreak in 2008, recently received assistance from German Agro Action to clear refuse.

A compactor, a tractor for refuse collection and other services and 20 new computers were handed over to the mayor, Nicholas Hwindiri, to deal with the heaps of uncollected garbage which have been a permanent feature in the town.

Hwindiri said the local authority benefited from the NGO after it submitted its financial audited books which were requested by the organisation as a prerequisite.

He said the donation was a clear indication that donor community had faith in the way the local authority, controlled by the MDC, was running its operations.
