An eight year old Predict Chaumba was playing outside their house when Emma Mutambara the vice chairperson of ZANU (PF), Rura District passed by Chaumba's homestead and let loose the three dogs to attack the child. The dogs mauled him on the waist just above the buttocks. The case was reported to the police and Emma was fined by police.

However, she later visited the Chaumba family and threatened them with death for reporting the case to the police. In a suspected fulfilment and follow up to the threats, ZANU (PF) youths and party District chair, on the 4th of June, visited Chaumba's homestead and demanded that Mrs Chaumba attends a meeting that was scheduled at Rura Primary Shool despite her pleading not to accompany them on ill health grounds.

At the meeting they announced that anybody failing to attend and support ZANU (PF) meeting will not be spared, heads will roll. This led Mrs Chaumba who is not well as a result of being a victim of rape during the 2008 elections violence and family to flee. The family is currently staying with an uncle in Epworth, Harare.

Zimrights is greatly disturbed and concerned by the escalating reports of politically motivated violence, particularly in Manialand. Furthermore, reports are that reaction from the police is almost closer to none. The ZRP monthly report for April indicated that there has been a slight derease in such matters in many regions across the country. However, last week reports from the same province revealed that police unleashed more than 100 dogs on innocent civilians and more than 78 were reported to have been admitted at Mutambara hospital after falling victims to the incident.
