Councillor Sydney Chirombe of Ward 33, Budiriro, Harare and two MDC employees, Abina Rutsito and Jeffias Moyo were last night arrested at their respective homes in Budiriro as the crackdown on MDC members and officials intensifies. Their whereabouts are unknown.Over 20 MDC activists are in remand prison since the killing of a police officer at a nightclub in Glen View by unknown revellers last month. While in police custody they were severely assaulted by the police, denied food and medication.
Last night arrests brings to 23 the number of MDC members who have been arrested on the trumped up charges of killing the police officer. Rutsito and Moyo manage the MDC Excellence Shop at Harvest House.
