Hove to be buried on Saturday

Dr. Mfandaidza Hove, the MDC Secretary for Economic Affairs, Industry and Commerce who died on Sunday will be buried on Saturday at Matoro Village in Mberengwa. He was 65. Dr. Hove who was a senior accounting lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe died soon after attending an MDC Peace Rally that was addressed by President Tsvangirai at Mkoba Stadium on Sunday.

He was born in Mberengwa District under Chief Mazivofa in 1946.

A renowned academic and fearless fighter for democracy and real change, Dr. Hove joined the MDC at its inception in 1999 and represented the party in the 2000, 2005 and 2008 parliamentary elections in Mberengwa.

A prayer for the late Dr. Hove will be held on Friday morning at his home, No. 16 Kingbridge Avenue, Northwood in Harare before leaving for Mberengwa where he will be buried on Saturday. President Tsvangirai accompanied by senior MDC officials on Monday paid condolences to the Hove family.

He did his high school at Chegato High in Mberengwa before moving to the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom for his tertiary education. He is survived by his wife Eunice, three children Kudzai, Mufaro and Kundai and one grandchild, Jasmine.

Meanwhile, the judgment for MDC Deputy Treasurer-General and Energy and Power Development Minister, Hon. Elton Mangoma will be made on Friday at the High Court. Hon. Mangoma is facing trumped-up charges of criminal abuse of office after authorising the purchase of 5 million litres of diesel from South Africa. Justice Chinembiri Bhunu is expected to make the ruling.
