The Director , Nkululeko Innocent Dube, said the group had delayed releasing their DVD album as they were disappointed at the continued escalation of piracy.
“I know most of you have been yearning for an IYASA DVD – but we delayed because of the kind of piracy we see in our city, eGodini in Bulawayo and in Johannesburg. This is our bread and butter. It costs no less than $5000 to produce good DVDs and CDs, then one copies and sells them for $1 each with nothing for the artists? Think about it! If someone could pirate whatever you produce at your work place and sell it for peanuts,” he said.
The album was recorded in Austria by Benjamin Kellner. IYASA is Zimbabwe’s multi award winning performing arts school for youths established in 2001 to support and promote the best interests of young musicians, dancers, actors and poets. It has expanded to include a resource centre for most established and upcoming artists, especially musicians, singers and dancers.
IYASA has a talented and committed team of skilled and highly trained artistes in music, dance, drama and poetry, film and other genres.
Through comprehensive workshops, projects, training, programmes and performances in and outside Zimbabwe IYASA plays an integral role in the development and promotion of talent in music, dance, film, poetry and theatre.
