Local movie takes on HIV/Aids

An upcoming local movie titled “Think” takes the fight against the HIV pandemic to the big screen when it premieres in July.

It was written and directed by Beauty Tsuro and produced by Willard ‘Slim” Magombedze in association with local movie production houses Tatenda Studios and Slimaz Productions.

The cast includes Estates Blues actor Ngoni Vhere, The Zimbabwe I Know dazzling actress Nothando Nobengula, Shingirai Ziwange (Sores of Emanuel) and Joy Nyikadzino.

The well-thought storyline challenges various social issues which have a great bearing on HIV and Aids such as polygamy, promiscuity and the stigma surrounding people living with the virus.

In one hour and 46 minutes, the movie gallantly tells the HIV story in a different and positive way, at the same time encouraging public on the need to live positively.

“The HIV and Aids issue is now regarded as a tired story, but Think addresses it in a different and interesting way. It draws a demarcation between preserving African cultural values and doing away with those that accelerate the spread of HIV,” explained Tsuro.

Several locally brewed products such as Consequences, More Time, Neria, Everyone’s Child, Yellow Card, Dice, The Evil In Our Midst, Dice, Sores of Emmauel and Lobola, were faced with inadequate production funds and struggled to make a commendable impact on the market.
