“Founders of MDC99 like Job Sikhala and myself defected from MDC-N so they hate us. The reasons given by MDC-N to justify exclusion of MDC99 from Copac midstream did not hold water,” said Muzungu, who has been part of the Copac team from the start.
“MDC-N’ s Edward Mukosi told Copac that MDC99 did not qualify to be part of the supreme law making process as it had not participated in the disputed March 2008 harmonised elections. “Since I left Copac, I am yet to receive cash payment for the period I was part of the team. Connections within Copac told me that top officials did not want to give me my dues as a way of humiliating MDC99,” the firebrand spokesman said.
He insisted that his party would field candidates from local government election level to the presidency in the coming elections.
“However, we will only participate after tangible reforms have been implemented to facilitate free and fair elections. All GPA provisions should be met before elections are held,” he said.
