Sayings of D.L. Moody

When I pray, I talk to God, but when I read the Bible, God speaks to me; and it is really more important that God should speak to me than that I should speak to Him. I believe we should know better how to pray if we knew our Bibles better.

What we need as Christians is to be able to feed ourselves. How many there are who sit helpless and listless, with open mouths, hungry for spiritual things, and the minister has to try to feed them, while the Bible is a feast prepared into which they never venture.

There is no better book with which to defend the Bible than the Bible itself.

It’s easier for me to have faith in the Bible than to have faith in D.L.Moody, for Moody has fooled me many times.

Some Christians have a small Saviour, for they are not willing to receive Him fully, and let Him do great and mighty things for them.

Pride is the mother of division.

The worst enemy man has is himself. The pride and self-confidence often ruin him. They keep him from trusting to the arms of a loving Saviour.

I have no use for the man who thinks he is so good that he wants a little harp all for himself when he gets to heaven.

We ought to see the face of God every morning before we see the face of man.

If you have so much business to attend to that you have no time for prayer, depend upon it you have more business on hand than God ever intended you should have.

Some people think God does not like to be troubled with our constant coming and asking. The only way to trouble God is not to come at all.
