MDC activists, MP go into hiding

mdc__chHARARE - MDC officials in Glen View, including the MP Paul Madzore, have gone into hiding after the police vowed to leave no stone unturned in the search for people who murdered Inspector Petros Mutedza.

The police have already declared that the MDC-T is responsible for the death of the police officer who, according to residents, was killed by an angry mob of residents not by MDC-T supporters. Undeterred by this, the cops have been arresting indiscriminatingly all known MDC activists.
The police are just arresting any well-known MDC activists in Glen View and Harare, said MDC-T spokesperson, Douglas Mwonzora.
Police spokesperson Andrew Phiri said the force, which has been accused of being partisan, will leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the cop killers.
We hope that by fishing out the culprits from communities where they live, we will send a clear message to would-be trouble
makers, Phiri told the local press on Tuesday.
The cop was killed in skirmishes with the members of the public last Sunday. The MDC says its members complied with the police directive not to hold a rally.
In a statement condemning the killing, the Youth Forum said the incident was a wake-up call for the government to revamp
POSA.
It was due to certain provisions of the draconian act that this law-enforcing soul was lost, said the Forum.
