Chasaya holds a of a BSc-Development Studies degree from Midlands State University and believes that theatre has a lot of relevance in development work such as behaviour change, humanitarian assistance and community empowerment.

The play features two-time NAMA Award winner Eunice Tava, who has been off the stage for a while as she explored directing with amazing results such as “Election Day” and “Colours Of Dreams” alongside seasoned screen and stage actress Charity Dlodlo of the Studio 263 fame as well as a number of local films and plays, with vibrant and upcoming actress Getrude Vimbayi Munhamo a student from Theory X Media who has featured at like HIFA plays “Disconnection” and “Yours Abundantly” and is making his debut appearance at Theatre in the Park.

Guzha had this to say about the play: “In directing and producing this show, I owe the writer a good introduction to theatre by making sure that his first play makes the desired impact and I also owe our growing theatre fans a good run for their money by making sure that it lives up to the standard we set when we opened the second season with a cocktail of plays that premiered at HIFA which was followed by a star-studded play “Ten Years From Now”

In the play three ladies of the night decide they have had enough of ladies of the night’s nights and need to venture into more lucrative business and explore the potentials or opportunities in their line of business. They have had all types of customers (meaning the drivers, workers or vendors) and clients (meaning the ministers, business people or dealers) yet their lives have not improved in any way and much as they do not enjoy their way of life they have no other way.

From a brilliant idea by one of their own, a more vibrant project that is supposed to champion their empowerment and development is conceived and this is far much better than their previous experiences which saw them be lured, used or even abused and dumped by men. Suddenly, they have the opportunity to be in business as they square it up to their male counterparts who have always had unfair advantages over them, their mothers, their grand mothers and other women of the world.

Tafadzwa Muzondo, the Marketing & Sales Executive of Rooftop Promotions says, “When I first read the script and got into the plot, I first thought that calling a play with an all female cast “Sinners?” might seem a stereo-typical castigation of women as sinners but the writer of the play Patrick Chasaya was quick to say that he is “not lashing back or castigating women but just highlight one of the ways in which an abuse can lead to another abuse when the first victim revenges to either the perpetrator or someone else” , his words in italics”.

“That’s when I understood that it is a story of people pushed to the extremes by the harsh world and their hard experiences in which the writer is saying it is not right to be doing that as it is equally right not to push people to extremes emotionally, socially, politically or economically because a cat put in a corner is unpredictable”, continues Tafadzwa Muzondo, urging theatre buffs to come and enjoy this all female talented cast in this thought provoking and thrilling play. Tickets are US$5 for adults and US$4 for students and the play is not for those under the age of 18 years.
