Tanganda unveils U/16 National netball sponsorship

The Tanganda Tea Company has announced that it will be this year’s official sponsor of the 2011 National Association of Secondary school Heads U/16 netball tournament.

Tanganda is sponsoring the tournament to the tune of $45 000 under its Stella Tea brand.

Speaking at the launch of the package on Wednesday at Sakubva High 1, Tanganda’s Financial Director, Henry Nemaire, said the sponsorship was part of their company`s cooperate social responsibility to plough back to the community that had supported them for a long time.

“All the country’s 10 provinces will take part in the tournament. We have seen it fit to plough back into the communities that support our business through sponsoring a sport tournament,” said Nemaire.

He said Tanganda has been sponsoring the tournament since1998 unti the country`s economy nosedived.

“The sponsorship package will include balls that will given to all the country`s 72 districts for all the district winners. The company will also sponsor food, transport and accommodation to teams which sail through to the finals,” he said.

NASH Head of Netball, Tererai Hove, said Manicaland province would host this year’s finals, followed by Matabeleland North next year.

A total of 12 teams will battle it out for the coveted prize. Pamushana High from Masvingo province are the defending champions.

Each province will have one representative, save for Manicaland province who will have two teams including Sakubva 1 High School who have already qualified by virtue of being host, and Masvingo province who will also have two teams including Pamushana, the defending champions.
